Where entertainers come to be entertained ...

Hi, following requests for another night of musical mayhem, we have acquired the use of the

Chilton Country Pub & Hotel

Black Boy Road Fencehouses Houghton-le-Spring

County Durham DH4 6PY Click for directions

The evenings are held fortnightly on a Tuesday and we kick off at about 8pm, although early arrival is advised as it is already very popular.

We’re looking for all entertainers in Acoustic / Electro acoustic style and we’ll have a PA with mikes, effects and a couple of small acoustic amps. Also there will be bass gear and Uncle Colin as resident backing guitar/synth. It’s a lovely little venue so please come along, strut your stuff, and have a laugh.

Hope to see you there, Regards

Jim Tait

First things first!
BREAKING NEWS last night was that "Gentleman" Jim Tait had been discharged from Hospital and is at home recovering. Everyone at the Chilton sends their love to Jim along with good wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
Last night's taste of summer meant we could have the doors wide open for the first time this year. This brought the very best of our performers who not only enthralled the regulars in the room, but also a sizeable crowd of folks sitting at the tables outside.I can never remember an evening with such a high standard and diversity of songs.
Leanne, ably supported by Colin, Stu and Dave, continues to amaze with her sheer talent and professionalism. Singing, without rehearsal, to a live accompaniment is daunting at the best of times but this young lady, unbelievably, had never sung with a live backing before coming to the Chilton.
On the subject of talented young ladies, we had a return visit from Kate last night whose performance, once again, was simply mind blowing. Highlight of the evening for me was her highly moving rendition of Goodnight Irene at the end of the night, which had several of the audience in tears - for the best of reasons.
I could go on and on but I'll end with a mention for Jimmy - a newbie to Chilton but obviously a guy with a wealth of experience and talent who is welcome back anytime. Great debut Jimmy.
Thanks to everyone who performed and watched - especially our regulars - "Happy" Jim B, "Video" Malc, "Sixteen Ton" Ray, "Frying Pan"Tom, "Mississippi" Fred, "Yodelling" Geoff and a special thanks to Stu, Colin and Dave on backing.
In conjunction with Malcolm Rocks and myself, a FREE DVD of tonight's performances will be available for all performers at the next Chilling at the Chilton.
This was too good a night not to have a memento of.

Can't wait for the next one.
Big Al
